A Special Postal Cover highlighting the importance of jackfruit and its value-added products was officially released to promote awareness of Kerala’s rich agricultural heritage and encourage the marketing of jackfruit-based products. The commemorative cover recognizes the economic, nutritional, and cultural significance of jackfruit, one of Kerala’s most abundant and versatile fruits. The initiative aims to support farmers, entrepreneurs, and small-scale food processing units engaged in producing a wide range of jackfruit products.
The release ceremony was attended by officials from the Department of Posts, representatives of the Agriculture Department, local public representatives, and members of farmer organizations. During the event, speakers emphasized the growing demand for processed jackfruit products such as chips, flour, jams, pickles, sweets, and ready-to-eat snacks. They highlighted the importance of promoting value addition, reducing post-harvest losses, and creating better market opportunities for farmers through innovative processing techniques and branding initiatives.
